Gamechanger AI? How artificial intelligence is revolutionizing project management in construction
In this interview, Michael Bucko, Head of IT AI at PROBIS, talks about current developments, future AI features and the opportunities that intelligent technologies open up for our customers.
1 Mike, you are new to PROBIS. What excites you most about the challenge of further developing the IT for a leading controlling software in the real estate sector, which is traditionally considered to be less digitalized?
What excites me most is the opportunity to drive digital transformation in a sector that is ripe for innovation. By modernizing the IT infrastructure and integrating advanced technologies, we can significantly improve efficiency, transparency and decision-making for our customers, setting a new standard in the industry.
2 Artificial intelligence is currently one of the dominant topics in IT. While many companies are still looking for specific applications, others are already focusing on AI-supported processes. What is your strategic vision for the use of AI at PROBIS - and where do you see the greatest potential for our customers?
My vision is to integrate AI into our end-to-end financial command center for real estate to deliver predictive analytics, automate repetitive tasks and provide actionable insights. I see the greatest potential in construction monitoring, contract management, budget and invoice tracking and risk planning.
3. many companies in the construction and real estate industry are still reluctant when it comes to using AI. What do you think are the biggest misconceptions about AI in our industry, and how can PROBIS help bridge the gap between innovation and practical application?
One of the biggest misconceptions is that AI is a distant, futuristic concept rather than a practical tool that can deliver value today. In reality, AI is already transforming industries, and the real estate sector is no exception. PROBIS can bridge this gap by demonstrating concrete use cases, educating stakeholders and providing AI-powered solutions that address real challenges in the industry.
4. if you look to the future: How will AI change cost controlling and financial management in the construction and real estate industry in the next five years?
AI will revolutionize cost controlling and financial management by enabling real-time monitoring, predictive cost analysis and proactive risk management. In the next five years, AI-powered tools, including AI agents, will be essential to optimize budgets, improve project timelines and ensure financial transparency across the industry.
