Urban planning of tomorrow: impulses from the polis Convention 2025

What does the future of our city centers look like? How can we create affordable housing in the long term? And what measures will enable a more efficient and sustainable energy supply?

These questions were the focus of the polis Convention 2025 in Düsseldorf - one of the most important platforms for urban development, the real estate industry and municipal future strategies in the German-speaking world. Once again this year, it became clear that the challenges facing our cities are complex but solvable - if politics, business and technology pull together.

Existing buildings before new builds: focus on ESG

As part of the networking event Turn2Greenorganized by our partner LiWooD, PROBIS spoke about the role of sustainable urban development and how ESG criteria can be anchored in project controlling. The shift from demolition to conservation strategies is becoming increasingly relevant - both from an environmental and economic perspective.
Conversion, addition of storeys and vertical densification are more than just architectural alternatives today - they are key responses to CO₂ budgets, space shortages and social requirements.

Digital controlling as an enabler

What is becoming apparent: Without reliable data and digital control, neither ESG-compliant transformations nor economically viable new buildings can be realized.
