The extension and refurbishment of the Braunschweig Municipal Hospital at the "Salzdahlumer Straße" site in the south-east of the city combines new construction and extension with the existing building, with a new and revised structure that links all functions and parts of the building in an organised manner.
A new elegant entrance building including an arrival area in front of it rounds off the entire reorganisation of the Salzda Lumer Strasse complex as a prestigious entrance.
At Braunschweig Municipal Hospital, a complex development project to optimise workflows, increase capacity and improve efficiency has been underway since 2017.
The focus of the investment programme is on optimising workflows, increasing capacity and improving overall efficiency.
The 1,499-bed hospital employs almost 4,000 staff and consists of 21 clinics, ten independently operating clinical departments and seven institutes covering almost all medical specialities. The hospital treats more than 61,000 inpatients and about 121,000 outpatients annually.
Turner & Townsend was appointed to manage the construction project, including cost and commercial management, building information modelling (BIM) consultancy and management, and quality control.
