Airport Expansion South Terminal 3, Frankfurt am Main

Terminal 3 is being built in the south of Frankfurt Airport on the site of the former US military base. After completion in 2023, up to 21 million travellers per year will be able to depart or arrive at the new terminal. When fully completed, Terminal 3 will be designed for around 25 million passengers. The total of three construction phases of the terminal allow for modular construction - depending on capacity requirements.

In 2005, Frankfurt architect Prof. Christoph Mäckler won Fraport's competition for the realisation of the building, and his design was particularly impressive for its modernity. Plenty of daylight provides a lot of warmth and light in the large rooms and therefore requires as little artificial sources as possible. Thanks to efficient construction and modern technology, it requires hardly any heating energy.
