The Elbturm is being developed by SIGNA Prime Holding in the east of HafenCity Hamburg. The architect of the third tallest building in Germany, at around 245 m, is David Chipperfields Architekten from Berlin. The first planning concepts date back to 2018, and construction began at the beginning of 2021.
The building has a total gross floor area of over 140,000 m². The core use of the property is office space on approx. 70,000 m² GFA. In addition, the building will house retail space, restaurant areas, a fitness studio and a hotel when completed.
Thanks to a smart energy concept, the Elbtower is almost CO2-neutral. The heat required for operation comes from waste heat, district heat and waste heat from production.
